My seat bushings on the M Coupe have finally perished. It's a well known problem and the repair parts were a whopping $30.
I followed some directions I found on the interwebz and got the bushings in my driver seat replaced. As I was re-installing the seat in the car one of the bolts wasn't threading back in as easily as I thought it should. So, I pulled the seat back out and went to chase the threads with my thread chasing/repair tool. The bolt cleaned up nicely, but then the chasing tool broke off in the threaded hole in the floor pan.

So, next I cut the top of the broken tool off and drilled a pilot hole and ran my extractor in. The extractor caught a bite and then IT broke off.
(*&@#(*&@!!!!!!!!!!
So I put the seat back in and it's held in place by 3 bolts. I'll take it to the local indy BMW shop during the week and see if they can un-fuck my situation.

Hate it when that happens. You/they might have success by welding a nut onto the broken bits and using that to turn it all out. Works almost everyone for me.

That sucks. I hate when something simple decides to go all sorts of messed up. When a 1 hour job turns into a 13 hour job like the last time I did drum brakes.

hmmm.... that's a good plan. I might try that before taking it in. I'll should probably take all the carpet out to keep from setting the inside of the car on fire with the welder.

Good call. I've never had to actually do this inside of a car, usually suspension things.

Carbide bit in a Dremel will grind out the broken extractors
